I guess I'm wondering what the artist's motivation was...is it a way to show how Easter has become overcommercialized by the candy industry?

that's amazing!

Nope, solid milk chocolate. I've even seen articles that have nutrition information on the sculpture!

I'm gonna have a million of these.

If you break him up into little bites, you get Jesus' Pieces

There's no wrong way to eat a Jesustm

I'm sorry, the gears are turning. If you want me to stop, just say so and I'll publish them somewhere else. =)

Jesus--he melts in your mouth, not in your hand!

Ok, so it may not rhyme with M&M like with Reese's, but still...

I do believe Goats (http://www.goats.com/archive/980313.html) beat ya to that punchline. Multiple (http://www.goats.com/archive/000405.html) times, even.

So it's okay to eat Jesus in the Catholic Mass when he's made of wheat (to which some parishoners are deadly allergic), but make him out of chocolate and it's quelle offense?

Guess some of us retired Catholics are just joining the oppressors .

I think they're offended by the fact that the sculpture's anatomically correct (i.e., no loincloth), and they may also see it as a contemptuous parody of the Eucharist, which I understand is pretty much the central mystery of the RC church. Silly, I know. Get a sense of humour.

Oh, I know. Years of Catholicism and Jesuits under my belt and all that. It's just that any practicing Catholics I still hang with are much more offended by the petty stuff instead of this Very Important Issue. You know, petty stuff like the awful treatment of the poor, pollution, abuses of power...not like the guy ever preached about any of that.

Oh, the Jesuits would be proud of me. They were considered practically Marxists during the go-go Reagan years, but boy, were they sharp. And fun. They could really hold their liquor and they always had fresh cookies!

Yeah, I mean, I can see the point in getting annoyed if they think this guy's parodying the Eucharist, but...seriously, I think Jesus himself would tell them there's more important shit to worry about! :)

Sometimes you feel like a religious nut.

Sometimes you don't.
