Boy, my shopping karma rocks!
May. 30th, 2007 05:47 pmWow, when it rains, it pours!
So I was getting cabin fever, and decided to bring a few unwanted pieces of clothing to Goodwill. While I was there, I did my usual scrutinizing of their housewares for anything that might be good on my altar (mostly I look for chalices and candlesticks). I've never found anything there before, but today, I was taking one last look before leaving at a shelf I'd probably already seen twice, and

SWEET! For a buck, I got a chalice which, while not my ideal "everyday" chalice, seems to go well in its greys and browns with a deity pair I've been working with lately.
Then, on my way home, I decided to make a brief stop in the consignment shop on Highland since I've actually never been in there before. About halfway through the store, I found an amethyst "Twinkle" oil lamp! Now, I got one of these in cobalt blue from my grandmother's place after she passed away. Lucy broke the chimney, but the base is still intact.

The purple one was only $12. Doubt they're worth MUCH more than that, but my grandmother put a note on the base of the blue one with the page # where it's located in a certain antiques guide, so maybe I'll find out sometime.
Yeah, good shopping karma. :D

Date: 2007-05-30 10:03 pm (UTC)Josh and I are quite the bargain finders, he found me a new set of brass shabbas candlesticks just this weekend, and a glass challah board (not quite my thing, I prefer wood or ceramic with matching knife) but it works wonderfully for focaccia.
Here's to happy hunting!
