I need gum surgery: a whole fucking graft to fix this ONE TEENY BIT of receded gumline on one tooth.

IF my insurance covers it (damn well better), there is a $50 deductable and they only pay 80% after that. Meaning I'll be paying something in the neighborhood of $235. And it's about a two-week recovery period, during which time I must stick to liquids and refrain from talking much. It will hurt a lot, and it might not even fix it 100% because of where the problem is.

I'm not doing it until maybe the second week of September. Not until after my anniversary, after my date weekend with dahveed76 (my first chance to see him since May), not until after Stones. But hopefully, hopefully, I will be better by Mabon. Hopefully.

Fuck this. That's all I can say.

You have my full empathy here. Probably tisana's as well. I bet our Mom can even relate pretty gosh darn well. It can suck, but it is your health, so it is kinda worth it.

Yeah, I know. It wouldn't suck SO much if it were, say, in the back of my mouth on the facial side. But no, it's in the front of my mouth on the labial side. *sigh*

See, the thing about gum surgery for receding gums was that the way they stitched me up, I wasn't supposed to smile or laugh, or it'd pull on the stitches...right. Tell someone who smiles when nervous that they can't smile for a week or more.

Hopefully won't be the case with you.

Get a few days of food you like to actually chew in before the surgery so you don't miss it so much.
