Comcast On Demand free movies is currently featuring a documentary on/tribute to Leonard Cohen. I need to get in the shower so I can't watch it all right now, but...

The man's fucking brilliant. Amazing. The Edge says that his language, his voice is "almost prophetic," which I think is a great description. In so many of his songs, in the novel of his that I read, it's like he's speaking in riddles about truths most people can't come close to understanding fully. We can just catch hints of them, like the shimmer on the scales of a fast-swimming fish in murky water.

Oh, and I also got to hear Nick Cave do "I'm Your Man." Awesome. :)

This is reminding me of when I watched Wings of Desire for the first time. I watched it just because it featured Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, but it ended up taking my breath away. I should really get a copy of that on DVD.

I actually saw a screening of this at a theatre out here. Brought people to tears. I can't for the life of me remember the title, but there's an excellent collection of his poetry out there that I used to read in high school.
