Well, this was an interesting weekend!
It started out with a date on Friday that seemed like the exact opposite of the last time I had a second date with someone. In other words, it was great and is highly unlikely to be the LAST date with this person. On the other hand, Addis Red Sea (at least, the Cambridge location) is not as good as Asmara. Not as much flavour in the food at all. Oh well. Not important in the big scheme of things. :)
Saturday was busy, and while it was overshadowed by hormonally-induced stress and depression, it included some very nice things. I went to
dee_cee's bridal shower, seeing her and various other friends for the first time in ages. It was great watching the bride-to-be open her presents and squee over stuff, even though I had to leave early. I did so in order to get my stuff and head over to
pierceheart's for his birthday party. I finished making the cake there, and it turned out even better than I'd expected. YUM. We had fun watching movies and silly YouTube videos, and of course watching little F do toddler-things. By the time everyone was gone, I was exhausted. I fell asleep while the boy finished watching a movie, and only woke up when I realized he was cleaning up, so I helped finish that and then we crashed.
Sunday was Brewing Day! We got the supplies together and headed back to my place for cooking. While we were boiling the wort, who should show up but
lindalee and a friend of hers in town on business! We chatted over the kettle for a while, and drank some homemade peach melomel. (
lindalee, feel free to steal as much of my sage as you like anytime you want to, whether I'm there or not.)
We finished up the brewing by early evening, and ate leftover pizza and veggies and chips for dinner. Went to bed fairly early. It's hard work brewing, even if there's not a lot of exercise involved! This morning, the water in the fermentation lock was bubbling away, so I think we're doing well. Yay! Beer!
Soon, I shall make more mead...
