I can has gooshyfood?
Oct. 26th, 2007 01:05 pmOk, the gum surgery is done and I am home for the day, fixing lunch. I already had some beef broth (Better Than Bouillon's is great), and am working on mashed taters. Yum. Dinner will likely be tomato soup with more mashed taters. I also got a bunch of stuff like oatmeal, cottage cheese, applesauce, refried beans, and yogurt, and stuff to make soups I will puree in the blender (spinach and mushroom, for one).
And since no one should have to read or hear details of other people's health issues unless they so choose,
So basically, my tongue ring wore away at my gum in one spot over the years because it was placed farther forward on my tongue than it should have been. That was necessary--my tongue is weird. Anyway, the periodontist had to cut a little bit of tissue from my palate near my back teeth, then sew that closed, then graft the bit of tissue onto the worn area of my gum. It took a long time, what with the anesthesia, suturing, etc. Didn't hurt a bit until the anesthesia started wearing off a little, but she gave me more. I'm actually quite surprised there's no pain at all right now, even though the anesthesia is gone, but that's probably because of the three ibuprofen they gave me before the surgery. I have prescriptions for antibiotics, painkillers, and an antiseptic rinse. I may not need the painkillers. I'm supposed to eat a soft diet for about a week.
So yeah, that's done. I think that for the wedding tomorrow, I may bring a thermos of soup and have that and the mashed potatoes at the reception dinner. It's good to know that I'm not likely to be in abject misery, mouth-wise, and will be able to enjoy myself with my friends!
