On Wednesday, my dentist took out the stitches in my palate and told me I could chew on the sides of my mouth only. Cool. She left in the ones on the graft itself and told me not to bite into anything with my front teeth. Really, I haven't except one single bite when I was totally thinking about other things with good reason. The stitches have been driving me nuts though, and I've played with them a bit. Anyway, whether it's because of that or not, some have started to come out. I've found big loops that have pulled out, and those were so aggravating, I snipped them. Just now at lunch, I thought I had food stuck in my teeth, but it was a stitch that came out when I picked my teeth. Oops. But really, it is so close to healed, I don't think it's going to be a problem. I'm slightly worried, just because it seems bad that my stitches are coming out slowly a week ahead of time, but...sheesh. It's all one piece of tissue now, just kinda tender. It SHOULD be ok. I hope.

Five and a half hours to decide on dinner.

Oh, and I never got my damn book. Oy.

And it's not like you could leave it alone. (People who say, "Just leave it alone" obviously never had stiches in their mouths. Fools.)

I suspect you're probably in good shape. Enjoy the softer side of cuisine and/or chew carefully. Sounds like you're a fantabulous healer.

Yeah, my mouth heals quickly. I was eating egg rolls within three days of having my wisdom teeth out. It's why I'm mildly surprised this damage didn't heal up on its own. Oh, and it is totally hard to just "leave alone" stitches which are RIGHT AT THE TIP OF YOUR DAMN TONGUE! :P

It really is quite amazing how orally fixated we humans can be. I never really saw myself as orally fixated till this tooth extraction and I started analyzing how many times a day I created either positive or negative pressure in my mouth. I am also amazed at how incredible the urge can be to explore anything in one's mouth with the tongue.

I am so glad I do not have stitches, I would be driven mad with the desire to probe them with my tongue constantly.

I bet you can't wait to be able to enjoy crisp foods again.

I can enjoy crisp foods, as long as they're small enough to pop into the back of my mouth to chew, since my tearing teeth are not in use. No sandwiches, and I have to cut pizza.
