I wish to heck I had five hundred plus bucks to burn:

http://isisexchange.com/isis-wings-bellydancing-costume-p-1064.html

Or just three hundred plus:

http://isisexchange.com/unique-bellydance-costume-p-1062.html

Or that this had some other colour trim instead of pale blue (red? gold?):

http://isisexchange.com/breathtaking-belly-dance-costume-must-p-361.html

Maybe I should just get something relatively simple but nice and inexpensive like this:

http://www.dancingrahana.com/product/cos59/CherryRedwithGoldEgyptianBraBelt.aspx

or this:

http://www.dancingrahana.com/product/cos74/BlackSilverTurkishBraBelt.aspx

or heck, even this:

http://www.pyramidimports.com/bellydancing/bdbs1502.htm

It would also be nice if Belly Dance With K occasionally listed costumes that weren't yet sold, or if a few of these off-the-rack vendors would realize that occasionally, people with DD cup bra sizes have ribcages and hips well under 40" around.

*sigh*

I can buy wings like those separately too, but I do love the look of that bra with the little shiny straps from the collar to the bra cups. Soooo pretty.

What is it about dancewear that makes it so expensive? I plan on having a kilt made (eventually) and that's going to run me about $300-400. YIKES!!!

Well, for belly dance, it's the fact that the half-decent ones are covered in beads and sequins that generally have to be applied by hand. Also, the good ones are custom made on demand, not mass-produced.

Kilts have about 6-9 yards of material in them, usually at least 10 oz, wool.

That's not cheap material.

I like the Dancing RAhana costume.

By the way, I think I have heard some not-so-nice things about Isis Exchange. The name rings a bell.

I will try to post my costumes tonight. Both originally had hip measurements of 36 and could probably be restored to something that small.

Which Dancing Rahana costume? Red or black?

I've heard some negative and some good things about Isis Exchange.

Wow, those are stunning. I'd love to learn belly dancing; I used to do tap and jazz, but they didn't go so well. Somehow belly dancing seems more natural (I definitely won't say easy, though). Sometimes I want to just move to music rather than sing.

OMG, you'd be stunning in any of 'em. I promise if I win the lottery this weekend*, you'll get mega-gift certificates.

I'm starting to understand the addictive quality of bellydance. The little I've learned has been really great for my back, as well as my attitude. Picked up two more DVDs to work on the very basics, since I'm such a special needs dance student and would be horrified to advertise my obtuseness to an entire class of real humans at this point.

*Of course, it helps if one actually BUYS lottery tickets. I do occasionally, but seeing as I'm lucky to remember where I put my keys, the MegaMillions ticket is way down on my list of priorities. Still, if I hit, shopping will ensue. :-)
