Date: 2008-01-10 11:45 pm (UTC)So I went and looked at a bunch of other goat youtubes, and yep, now I want one. :-) Wonder what the law says about farm animals in Arlington? Hey, I'd never have to mow the lawn. And I love chevre!

- regular vet check-ups required as goats don't show illness unless they are pretty far gone (it's a protective measure as they are prey animals).
- because they are ruminants, they tend to salivate and off-gas more than your usual housepet.
- they need special feed, they can't just chomp grass, or else they get intestinal problems.
- they are herd animals, so they don't do well solitary, they need another goat.
- they don't tend to be affectionate back. For that you need a dog or cat. (Though in contrast one website claims they are affectionate (and smart). I guess you'd have to ask someone who already has one.)
