Costume progress!
Apr. 8th, 2008 04:15 pmShadia e-mailed me back in response to the pictures I sent her. She confirmed that I look good in a 2-piece costume, and likes my Standard Everyday Bra for a base. See, I thought so too! Only issue is the weird band, which has a removable back that you can replace with a clear one if you're wearing something low-backed. So it's basically got TWO sets of hooks in the back. I'm afraid that might be a problem, so I e-mailed her back with an explanation of the construction to ask if that would be ok.
So, in other notes, she thinks I'd do well with a v-shaped dip in the front of my skirt (like in this costume) because I have a short waist. HAH! Outside confirmation of what I've suspected. I had a feeling that was why I don't look as skinny as people with the same general bust, waist, and hip measurements as I have. They're more spread out. This is also why bras with heavy fringe make me look like crap, even those that look fine on other people around my size and with an otherwise similar shape.
She thinks I can rock a tulip skirt, which is nice. I was afraid she would think my big thighs would require a circle skirt to cover them. I don't want a circle skirt for this costume. I've never had anything truly sleek and slinky for dance, so I want that now. One day, I am considering getting a pink-toned costume with a circle skirt, something sweet and feminine and rosy. That will be an homage to the goddess Anahit, since she is totally big on the roses, and I think especially the pink ones. I may even make or buy a clip with pink silk roses on it for my hair. But that costume is not for today.
