Some minor rants.
Apr. 11th, 2008 08:50 am1. Planning rant.
The boy made a date for the night of the 20th, assuming I had something else I was doing. Well, that something else hadn't been planned. So I decided to take the initiative and plan it for that night. Well, neither one of us remembered that the Seder to which we'd been invited was taking place that night. Now, he and she can go to the Seder, but I'm fucked. Damn it all. I was really looking forward to that. I mean, I love what I WILL be doing, but I wish I could have done both. Next year, damn it, I am GOING if I am invited. I only went once, two years ago, and really enjoyed it, and haven't managed to go again.
EDIT: Please note that the reason I cannot go is that having forgotten this was the night of the Seder, I went ahead and made other plans. These plans are important, and not of a social nature, so I can't really casually break them. The reason I am not going has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT
piercheart and
miss_lisa_ma WILL OR MIGHT BE THERE. Nothing.
2. Sexual orientation rant (precipitated by the comments I so often hear on
polyamory.
Being monosexual (straight or gay, sexually attracted to members of only one physical sex) does not mean that you are "attracted to the plumbing." If that were the case, I'd drool over everything with a dick. I do not. Yes, just like you bisexual folks, we too are attracted to people as individuals, and love them for their minds, personalities, etc. We just happen to feel the particular drooly feelings only when those individuals have a certain kind of plumbing. When they don't, we call them friends, and cherish them.
On the positive side: I have a
dahveed76 date this weekend! Yay! And plans are in progress to see
zzbottom next week if we can sort out our tangled schedules. And I had a nice night in with
pierceheart last night. So these things are good. :)

Date: 2008-04-11 02:43 pm (UTC)Rant #2.
I get annoyed by all kinds of assumptions and judgements that people make around sexuality.
Attraction and sexuality are both not black-and-white issues. Anyone who is a complex being--ie, most of us--will have different things/qualities/people they are attracted toward (in the broad sense, not just sexually.)
I get so irritated when people take it back to "A+B=C." It's just not that simple.
Gah.

That was beautiful!
