A few people have been mentioning tattoos. I've been pondering what I'd eventually like to get for my next tattoo. I'd been thinking about a mehndi-style design, and am still considering that. Something else that's come to mind recently, however, is a stylized pomegranate tree. I'd love it if I could find a good depiction of a pomegranate tree from some old Armenian art, but Google image search isn't being very helpful. I found a couple modern depictions and one old depiction that's not very good.

I met a guy once with lightning bolts tattooed on his foot. He was teaching a knife seminar I was attending. Nice guy.

Yeah, but I'm not actually sure about the provenance of that one--I think it's a modern image based on various kinds of historical artwork in the area. I'd love to find something that is definitely Armenian and fairly old, not just "old-style". I might not do exactly what I find, but I'd like to have that as a basis to work from.

Back when I was contemplating a tattoo, I longed for a pomegranate image. I never managed to find a suitable one, so I was going to have a friend draw one. I should see if she can drum up some nifty art for you :).

No matter what you decide, this tattoo sounds like it will be absolutely amazing.

It's not really what I'm looking for, though I do love that type of drawing. I want something with a distinctly Near Eastern flavour.
