Wobble. Slurp. Jiggle jiggle bounce.

It seems I am no longer nauseated by Jell-O. I wanted a no-point treat today, so I took a walk over to the student center where there's a little convenience store, and bought a snack pack of orange and lemon-lime sugar free Jell-O. I haven't eaten it in a loooong time. Back when I was 10 and on Weight Watchers, I once made a whole packet of sugar free Jell-O and ate nearly the whole thing, which was (I think) 4 servings. Hey, it was only 40 calories. When I got near the end, I realized I was totally sick of Jell-O, and didn't eat it again for years. Now, trying it again, it is a BLAST to eat. Yes, I know what's in it. No, I don't much care. It wobbles. Yay!

The Jell-O that you make is even better than the stuff you can buy pre-made. I still would not recommend eating a whole pack :)

Yes, I think I remember it being tangier. Still, this is convenient for work.

I like the texture better of the stuff made from the box. You can also make gigglers with it.

I'm sorry...did you say you were on WW at age 10?! Why??
That's kinda young for a diet.

Because I weighed almost as much then as I do now. I was on the program designed for kids.

Hunh. Learn something new every day.
I didn't know they had a kid-specific program.

Sorry.
The kids-on-diets thing is a trigger about society sending messed-up messages to girls and body dysmorphic disorder.*

Nothing to do with you.

* Yes, that trigger constantly conflicts with the American obesity problem trigger, which nearly has me hissing at McD's when I pass.

Ah. Well, some kids need to eat healthier--and less--and I think many kids benefit from structure in that.

No, this is true. And it makes sense; I think a lot of kids (myself included) don't really get a good idea of eating balanced meals. And WW (at least more recently) has been pretty good about encouraging proper eating habits.

But like I said...bit of a knee-jerk reaction, there. In my mind it kind of ties in to the woman-child (http://www.phillymag.com/articles/pretty_babies/page1) thing the country's been going through--getting bikini waxes for 8 year old girls, that kinda thing (no, I'm not kidding). Starting 'em young on the drive for model-like perfection.

Yeah, that stuff makes me sick too.

And damnit, now I want to make something with Jell-o. How long before an unopened box goes bad, do you suppose?

I'm not sure it CAN go bad...

Jell-o and cockroaches...the only things to survive a nuclear war.
Well, that and Twinkies.
