Jun. 16th, 2008 01:59 pmSaturday, I went to visit my parents for Father's Day. I got my dad some nice beers and a card. We did a lot of chatting, eating, and wine guzzling. It looks like my sister will be moving to Pennsylvania after all. She's even looking for jobs down there. Huh. Good for her. It's really about time she detaches herself from my mom's apron strings. As usual, my mom loaded me up with stuff to bring home with me. I got a cute red dress (work and date appropriate, and OMG RED DRESS! FINALLY), a white skirt with Easter egg coloured flowers on it, a pair of black capris, a robin's egg blue short sleeved knit top, and a coral sleeveless knit top. My sister also gave me a pink hoodie she'd bought which was too small for her. Mom also gave me a black pearl necklace/bracelet/earring set given to her by some coworkers for her retirement, since she doesn't like them on her. Hey, I like 'em! But with all these black pearls, why isn't Johnny Depp chasing after me? *sigh*
On Sunday, I got into South Station at 2 and walked from there to Downtown Crossing to look for a dress for
The dress is dark brown and white and fuchsia. The construction of the dress makes it perfect for me. It has a stretchy bust area with ribbons that tie over the shoulders as straps (I'll need my clear bra straps for this). It billows out underneath the bust in a gauzy skirt with a lining underneath the gauzy printed bit. What keeps it from looking like a muu muu on me is the fact that there's an elasticized BELT that goes around me right under the bust. Ingenious! All this makes for a dress that actually looks good on me without any alterations! Yeah, pricey, but worth it. I may end up not taking the second dance class I was going to take as a result, though I'd really like to, because I should save some money. Oy. But then again, it's a real opportunity.... I'll go tonight in time for that class, and make my decision when I get there.
