All she wants to do is...
Jun. 17th, 2008 08:58 amLast night,
nepenthe01 and I were all set to take our clothes off, and no one showed up!
Oops. Burlesque starts NEXT week. D'oh! Instead, we went for some summer rolls and stuff at Noodle Street before belly dance class. I'm glad I did. I was still hungry as anything after class, even though I'd had a salad and some baked chips for dinner. We worked hard. First of all, almost 10 minutes of drills can be very exhausting. Then, she had us dancing to Turkish and Greek and Arabic versions of the same songs. Let me tell you: those Greeks are fucking CRAZY with their damned bouzoukis. Sheesh. You have to move a mile a minute to keep up with that music, and you kind of have to keep up a constant shimmy, which ain't easy. Then, at the end of class, we did a rather long full routine (which fortunately did not include any Greek music except "Miserlou", but did seem to have some long periods of shimmying required). Monday nights when dance starts at 5:45 and goes until 9 are going to be LONG nights, and tiring ones. But fun. Yeah.
Man. I love dance more and more. I can hardly hear music anymore without wanting to dance to it. I love belly dance music. I need MORE dance music. I can't believe I don't own a single version of "Istmem Babacim" in any form. I also need to check out the old Lebanese records my father got from my sister's ex's parents. They might well rock.
Tonight, I have a date with
dahveed76. It's funny, I had a dream about him this morning while my alarm was snoozing. I dreamed we woke up together at my place, and then my alarm went off, and I really woke up. I was so tired. Hell, I didn't get to bed until close to midnight last night. Now I'm guzzling coffee and working. Well, getting BACK to work now, after procrastinating in LJ-land. :)
