Man, I just love reading the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab site. :) Even better, though, is placing an order. I just ordered yet another six-pack of imps (tiny sample bottles)--my fifth thus far. I've wised up and started looking at reviews of the perfumes, so that if nine out of ten people say, "Yeah, this is cloying/turns to a soapy smell/reminds me of old ladies," I know to beware. Also, I've started being more careful to choose based on ingredients and scent descriptions from reviews, instead of just the names of the scents and the description of their inspiration. That mistake, I really only made the first time, when I bought two six-packs of imps and hated most of them. This last time, I really liked quite a few of them. In fact, I just ordered my first full-sized bottle of one of the scents: O (as in, Story Of). Sheer "gorgeousness and gorgeousity" as my old droog Alex would have it. I seem to be very partial to scents on me that I would describe as warm, golden, spicy, and smooth. Scents that are like a violin is in sound when you just play a prolonged note.

I would really like to start studying perfumery, training my nose to the subtleties of fragrance that still escape me (though I can get some of them), and learning to blend individual notes into a glorious chord of scent.

Can't wait until my new imps arrive! :D

BWAAA-HAAAA-HAAAAAAA! BPAL scents are scrumptious, indeed. Yeah, the forums definitely help (though some of the posters there are WAAAAY more scent-trained than I'll ever be).

Reminds me of RenFaire last weekend, at which a woman came into our shop with a baby strapped to her front, and I asked if it was my lunch. She didn't find it as funny as I did. ;)

Haha, well, today I was shackled to a post outside an armory, and my coworker was telling people I eat children because I'm a witch (irony intended, of course). I promised it was only a nibble, and that they don't need their feet anyway. This woman walking by must have overheard us, because we hadn't even started on her kids before she said, "Do NOT do that to these children," as if we really WERE intending to eat them. Jeez. And to think I didn't even say they should be on leashes this time.

Yeah, I have a whole row of imps I didn't like either in the bottle or on me. I have a friend I am sending them to so that she can get hooked on crack start ordering, too.
