Ok, guess who just ran her first mile in over 11 years??? Even back in high school, I did it only when forced: once or twice a year for the physical fitness test. This time, it was voluntary.
I used mapmyrun.com to figure out that from Cedar Street to the far side of Grove Street and back on the bike path is a mile. So, I stretched, walked briskly to Cedar, and then started jogging. I went at a slower pace than I did yesterday, since I mostly wanted to make sure I finished the whole thing. I got up to the far side of Grove, and turned around. When I crossed Willow (ok, when I got into the shady area just past Willow), I sped up and kept up a faster pace until I got to Cedar again. Then I said, "YAY!" and walked back to my apartment. I took off my sneakers and got my key out of the one I had it in, and came in. I was shocked to find out that it was only 16 minutes since I'd left. With walking to Cedar and back and messing around with my shoes and the door, I estimate I ran about a 10-11 minute mile with relative ease. Not bad for my first time in ages and ages. I think I could it faster, but I might want to start running MORE instead of faster, first.
