Aug. 13th, 2008 02:58 pmLast night, I got an e-mail from a former partner of mine, a guy I dated in my pre-polyamory days. Basically, we had what amounted to a quick fling during my junior year in college (we were friends from freshman year on) and a more extended relationship while I was in grad school (which was mostly long-distance, since he was deployed to Germany). We broke up when he was deployed to Kuwait, because he knew he wouldn't be able to keep in touch enough to keep up a relationship for a year when he'd already been away for a long time. I was sad, I missed him, I moved on and found a new love, and he moved on and got married.
Anyway, he had some very sweet things to say to me in the e-mail. He wanted to apologize for any pain he caused me, and let me know how much he valued me as a friend, and how he looked back on our relationship with fondness, and all that. It's always good to know that the people you still think of years after parting ways, even if you don't see them, also still think of you.
D is an awesome guy. I'd love to introduce him to
pierceheart. I think they'd get along like a house on fire. I really should make an effort to meet up with him sometime when I'm in Maryland.
