The boy's not feeling well, so he went to bed early. I didn't want to, so what did I do? I stayed up and watched Pretty Woman. Now, you know me. I am NOT a chick flick fan. But this is a Chick Flick with a big ol' capital C and a big ol' capital F, and I LOVE it. I've loved it since I first saw it at the age of...oh...12? and had to ask my mom what a hooker was. Favorite bits:

1. Vivian: You're late.
Edward: You're stunning.
Vivian: You're forgiven.

2. Vivian: Did I mention, my leg is 44" from hip to toe. So basically we are talking about 88" of therapy, wrapped around you for the bargain price of $3000.

3. The cocktail dress she wears to dinner. Want. It's a classic.

4. Shop assistant: Hello, can I help you?
Vivian: I was in here yesterday, you wouldn't wait on me.
Shop assistant: Oh.
Vivian: You people work on commission, right?
Shop assistant: Yeah.
Vivian: Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.

5. Richard Gere's character playing piano in the lounge after hours. OMG. His fingers are just a little too tapered to be perfect for me, but when he uses them to play piano...*drool*

6. Edward: So what happens after he climbs up and rescues her?
Vivian: She rescues him right back.

*sigh*

Movie love!

So I guess that means a good chunk of the sex scenes were cut for tv too.

Appallingly Unrealistic

...but yeah, a fun movie.

I like #2, but it's #4 that sticks in my memory.

Maybe I'll see that one again sometime. I wonder if my lovely wife (http://veshengri.livejournal.com) has seen it/wants to see it/wants to see it again.

My Dad used to work as the night manager at a very very swanky hotel here in Ireland. One morning around 3pm he got a complaint about noise comming from the bar. He went to investigate and I kid you not there was Richard Gere playing the blues on the piano. He was very nice about being asked to stop, turns out he's quite the musician.

I kid you not this is a true story.

That post just totally made me smile. I remember when that movie came out--I was 10 and went to go see it with my mom. Boy did that make me feel weird;-)

Yeah, I didn't see it until it came out on video. I watched it with my whole family. :)

My mom and I went to see Trainspotting together in the theater when I was 16. THAT was weird.
