Random stuff in my brain
Oct. 10th, 2008 11:23 amWhere on earth did this sudden craving for naan with raita come from? I had Indian food recently (including naan and raita), and it's not like I'm hormonally out of whack. Ah well. I do have plain yogurt, at least. And Ak-Maks, which are not naan, but which are nummy.
I'm very excited about getting a new knitting group going at work. The one I used to attend over at our main campus complex is just too far now to be convenient. I took the initiative and sent out an e-mail inviting people to one that we'll hold here, now that our big seating area on the first floor is finished. I got quite a lot of takers, actually, which is awesome. Hooray for MIT Stitch 'n' Bitch West!
Hmm. My coworker has donuts. I may need to get one.
Cooking last night was as enjoyable as I thought it would be. I stuffed my squash with brown rice, dried cherries (out of cranberries, whoops!), caramelized apples and onions, and pecans. It was seasoned with salt, pepper, cinnamon, and calvados. I dusted the tops with a little cayenne before returning them to the oven, and drizzled a little maple syrup on top when they came out. Yum. I have the other half in the freezer, along with enough stuffing for the remaining squash on my kitchen table.
