My cat eats almost NO human food. She has been known to eat chicken on one occasion. She will have a few bites of tuna if offered. She isn't even all that keen on wet canned food, preferring kibble and her chicken treats (for hairball control) above all else. Today, she scorned Cornish game hen, but ate a couple of small pieces of ranch-flavored soy crisp. WTF??? Fucking crazy cat.

Other stuff:

1. I am working on a six minute long presentation. This is because I'm taking a professional development class on creating great presentations. THAT is because I'm going to be making a presentation at a convention in early May. Scary. I've got the outline done, and the PowerPoint is on the way. The subject is what makes a good donor prospect for MIT. They wanted it to be work-related. I found out I had about eight minutes of talking. Oops! I had to cut it down.

2. [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart and I are brewing! Mead, this time. He's making a pomegranate mead. I'm making my "Over the Wall" mead. Unfortunately, nowhere around here had redcurrant juice today! I am using a combination of blackcurrant and cranberry-raspberry, and I added extra honey because what I have now is tarter than what I'd expect from redcurrant juice. A strong tea of thyme, mint, and lavender will be added after fermentation is done.

3. I have had a very tasty margarita. A double margarita, really: 3 oz. tequila, 1 oz. Grand Marnier, and 1 oz. lime juice. I am nicely buzzed.

4. Boy is cooking turnip left over from carving a mangelwurzel (turnip jack-o-lantern). I need to start the ham steaks. We're also having salad and leftover winter vegetable soup. For all who were interested, the duck bacon with which I topped that soup on Friday night (ok, early Saturday morning) was tasty as hell but a bit saltier than I'd like.

5. There is no number five. This is a placeholder. :)

I carved turnips one Samhain.

Major pain in the arse and hand muscles.

But I can say I did it.

I can also say I've hand-inflated real pig bladders for use as a sort of medieval whoopee-cushion...

LOL! The secret to the turnips is a steel melon baller. Best scooper you can find for those guys.

Ah! I shall try that next time the mood strikes me to be that authentic at Samhain.

Your cat is fine. MY cat is weird. He'll eat birdseed, cherry yogurt, and fruit, of all things. (Thankfully he'll also eat kibble, wet food and chicken or tuna bits or I'd wonder if he was a pod-kitty.)

Ah, yes...Delenn, rest her soul, had a serious weakness for bread, white bread in particular, which was why I started keeping my bread on top of the fridge in the first place. Jezebel doesn't seem to be a carbaholic, but she does get rather insistent about getting the dregs of milk in my cereal bowl, which I can give her now that I don't have to worry about anyone else pushing her aside, gulping it down and then barfing all over the place. *sigh*

And yes, Lucy's crazy, but isn't that part of the feline job description? "Must be crazy to keep humans in line"? :-)

Lucy now eats her chicken treats right away again, since she doesn't have to worry about the other cats pushing her aside and stealing them. :)

I have to say,the thought of watching a cat eat a marshmallow is really freakin' funny. As long as it's someone else's cat, so I don't have to clean him up.

Hey if you need a helping hand in creating graphics/handouts/powerpoint for the presentation, we will be glad to do so :)

Aw, thanks hon! But this is a really short, informal presentation. The class instructor made it pretty clear he's not expecting anything more than the most basic PowerPoint skills, and that all-text is just fine. I finished it already--didn't take long.
