So...Elisabeth Sladen, a.k.a. Sarah Jane Smith, suggested Jason Isaacs for the 11th Doctor in an interview. I...kinda like that idea. Yeah. Yum.

Of course, Sladen also suggested Ron Perlman, which suggests the lady may well be smoking crack. I mean, don't get me wrong, I ADORE Ron Perlman. He's amazing in everything I've seen him in, and there's something very endearing about the big ugly bastard, but, um...no. No way.

I'd take Isaacs as Bond before the Doctor.

What about Eddie Izzard, isn't he available?

I'd take Isaacs any way I could get him. I mean, uh, I think he'd be good in either role. I can more easily see him as Bond, but that's just because it's more like what I'm used to in terms of roles for him.

Eddie Izzard...would be interesting. Possibly very, very good. Possibly disappointing.

Isaacs also reminds me of Dalton, someone upon whom much trash is heaped regarding his Bondage.

According to the Herald gossip column on Monday, Isaacs may be available. Word on the street is that Showtime's not renewing Brotherhood, which would free him up for another series. (Turns out a FOAF is a regular on the show.)

I can't imagine Ron Perlman either. Love him, think he's great fun but just not the Doctor!

hasn't moffat said he wanted someone with 'interesting looks' for the next doctor? don't ask me to find where i read that.

i think isaacs would be great. look at eccleston - could you have expected that beforehand? i don't think so.

also, no to perlman because, imo, the doctor MUST be british. maybe it's just me.

'interesting looks'. I think that Eddie Izzard (an idea suggested by Doctor #3) could certainly pull that off.

'interesting looks' may well mean that Moffat is looking to cast a woman in the role. It's been suggested (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dr+who+curse+of+fatal+death&search_type=&aq=0&oq=dr+who+cur) before (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXRmpm0MEMY). (Though, admittedly, that was a spoof. But it was a good spoof!)

I think Jason Isaacs is HOT and would make a great Doctor. But is he "weird" enough?

I think it's quite possible. Especially since it's likely he got exposed to good British comedy from an early age.
