Your favorite SPF 15 (or maybe a bit more) moisturizer, please?

I don't mind the Aveeno one I have now, but it's kind of mediocre. I am so tempted to buy Philosophy's Hope in a Jar, but the original has no sun protection, and the SPF-containing one is apparently truly awful, according to most reviews.

I want something that is NONGREASY, absorbs quickly and completely to leave a soft, smooth finish, does not block pores, and moisturizes well. It shouldn't smell bad, either, preferably. The Aveeno one smells a little weird. Chemical. Like unscented sunblock.

I do not really need anything super-powerful like SPF 8 million. Seriously. Just something for an everyday moisturizer.

I used Neutrogena last year, I think it's called Daily Defense? Whichever one is for either sensitive or oily skin. I had pretty good results with it last winter, but I had to stop around June because my summer oily skin came back.

I use Neutrogena or the CVS equivelent. It comes in a couple different formulas. Just be sure to select the one with SPF15.

Yeah, I'm not sure which formula I want, though. They can be very different.

They have an online quiz.

Interesting...they tell me to use a moisturizer with retinol and SPF 15 for daytime, and an anti-acne one for night.

Perhaps a case of the old shampoo trick of "Wash Rinse Repeat?"

Olay. They changed the formula a few years back; it no longer feels like smearing Crisco on your skin. I'm very dry; it makes me feel quite smooth and gorgeous after I put it on.

Cool, thanks. I do remember the old Olay being Crisco-y. I'm not all that dry--more combination skin, really--so the nongreasy is very important for me.

I really like Olay too!

Thirded on Olay.

Hmm - Olay may not be ok if you have really sensitive skin. At least I get rashes from it.

I like the Olay complete, but that may be because I got bottles of it free when I went to Iraq.

Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 with Parsol® 1789

that is my absolute favorite and has been recommend to me by a couple of aestheticians. i can use it under my makeup and it has been great for my combination skin. i love it.

also clinque makes a nice lotin with spf 15 that i used to use before i changed to cetaphil. and unlike most lotions i have used. it doesn't have a smell to it.

Ah, yes, this is a nice one, too - and it's what I turn to when my MK runs out.

The Cetaphil, or the Clinique?

clinique. The Cetaphil leaves me feeling dry not long after I've used it.

I prefer Oil of Olay for sensitive skin - spf 15.

I'm a Mary Kay child on this one, too. I like it - I like the fact that they have enough formulations to follow with my skin.

I DON'T like their intense moisturizers. For some reason those are scented, and I can't wear anything scented.

I use something called Purpose? Or Basic? Something like that :)

May I recommend my own?

Burt's Bees "Chemical-Free Sunscreen SPF 30".

Fair warning, this is a very thick formula (won't run in the sun) but can be hard to coat evenly through a beard or 2-3 day growth. Soft, non-pore blocking and leaves skin velvety afterwards. It smells gorgeous! The finished texture of the product is powdery, so you're not left shining. I typically moisturize heavily about an hour before putting this on, because if you put it on very dry skin it may feather a bit.

Afterward, follow up with their "Aloe and Linden Flower After Sun Soother".

Hmm. I'm really looking for a moisturizer that contains sunscreen, to avoid multiple products.

Hmn that's a good question then. I wear Bare Minerals which are SPF 15 & 30 but I wear moisturizer (Burt's Bees Evening Primrose) underneath.

If you're willing to spend a little extra for an absolutely gorgeous product, I'd recommend La Roche-Posay if you can find it. I use their Anthelios XL 50+ and it rocks! Even for a 50, it is almost odorless, and your skin drinks it up. No grease at all, and it spreads like silk. You can use it for a moisturizer, on your hands, whole body--anywhere. They make all levels of SPF protection. No breakouts, ever--and I have *very* sensitive skin and am hellapicky.

Also, DHC, a Japanese company, makes great products. They're designed for humidity, so they are non-greasy and sink right in.

50+ Yikes! I don't think I need quite that much. 20 wouldn't suck. I'll keep it in mind.

DHC...I've heard of them, but don't know much about them. I'll check it out. I like the "designed for humidity" idea. That might make it wearable even in summer, when most moisturizers feel icky to me. Thanks.

Oh, and on the other end of the scale--I've found that Target's "beauty fluid SPF 15" works wonders. It runs about 5 bucks. (It's a knockoff of Oil of Olay's facial moisturizer with SPF 15). Walmart also has a similar knockoff for under 4 bucks.

I love Target beauty knock-offs. :)

I know--that's one major thing I miss here, though France has Carrefour (which is the world's 2nd major retailer behind Walmart--random trivia).

Come to think of it, I think that Target just calls their stuff "facial moisturizer" and they've got a kind with SPF 15. Walmart's is "beauty fluid." They're both great quality and I can't tell the difference between that and Olay, which is twice as expensive.
