Fishy!

Well, my little Moby Dick is now in his new home! I left his vase with the plants in it right where it used to be (with clean water, of course), and put up a note saying, "Moby Dick invites you to check out his swanky new digs at Laura's desk," so people wouldn't worry if they didn't see him in there.

He sulked for a bit when I put him in. He wouldn't look at me for a bit. But now he's adjusting well, and seems happy and comfortable. Yay! I'm going to put in one of the 7-day feeder tablets I bought when I go on vacation, and ask someone to pop in another one on 12/30 while I'm gone.

He's such a pretty fishy! His aqua blue and red show up nicely in the lighted aquarium. I may get him another small fake plant at some point. It's kinda lame how excited I was about this, but he is such an awesome fish, and I knew he deserved better than that vase. This setup was designed for bettas, so it should be good for him. Most of the betta care websites I've looked at indicate that what I got is indeed a good setup, so that is reassuring.

I could watch my little fishstick all day. :D

Back when I had a respectable job (as opposed to now when I'm a part-tim student bum and part-time journalistic hack), I had a betta. He was bright red and I named him Chairman Kaga after the Japanese version of Iron Chef. I loved that fish. If I ever get another office, I want another betta.

Chairman Kaga! I like it! My coworker had one named Darth Betta, a female black betta, but she died. The fish, not the coworker.

gotta say, I love that icon. Is that a peacock feather mask? I have a peacock fetish lately.

Yes, that's what it is! It belongs to a friend, but I borrowed it when another friend was doing a photo shoot with me to practice using a new camera. I was thrilled to wear it!
