Yeah, I've packed on some weight since I took that shot. I'm actually thinking about JOINING Weight Watchers at work. This year, we get a weight loss program reimbursement included in our health plan. It's for $150. A 17-week session is $186. I'd be paying only $36. And yet, I'm not sure I want to attend meetings. If I could get the reimbursement for the online program, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it doesn't count. Meh.

I think I'll stick to my "bootleg" WW program instead. But I will STICK to it. I think having that adorable bento box might help with that. :)

And if you need the accountability of the meetings or program without the cost, maybe choose a friend or buddy that gets it to be accountable to or go to with your victories in the process, both scale-wise and whatever else.

I so relate to this because I've been there and not sure if you know that. But I lost over 100lbs back in 2005-2006.

You're gorgeous anyway but hella sexy picture.

I do ok with the losing weight, generally. I need to toughen up more with the maintenance after the fact, though. I need to start weighing myself weekly even after I drop the 15 pounds I want to drop.

I used to weigh 175 (in this pic), and got down to 145 during late 2004. I've been as low as 135 (in that pic), and now I'm somewhere between 145 and 150 again (PMS and the time when I weighed myself last meant that I was higher than I normally am). I want to get down to somewhere between 130 and 135.

145 tends to be my happy place. I'm 5'7" so it works for me. I like to have some muscle and curve and softness still and no bones sticking out. It's good you have a healthy idea of a goal for yourself.

Maintenance IS the hardest part and WW doesn't really support that much in that endeavor outside of free meetings and occasional mentions in meetings by your leader. STaying motivated long-term can be difficult, but I think the paradigm with regard to diet and exercise in the west is changing because of the obesity epidemic and healthier portions are returning and healthier options. It'll get eaiser eventually

I myself have gained about 15 from my lowest weight and about 12lbs from my happy weight that I'm trying to take back off. Too many no-counting days and freebie weeks and days lsat year with too much alcohol. I realize now how much difference alcohol makes.

Oh yes. My mom and sister do Atkins, and stick to it well, but drink too much these days to lose weight!

I'm not sure, but...can't you join the in-person version of WW, and in doing so, get an online account as part of it? If so, you could just skip the meetings. And...while I did the online, not the meetings, I've heard it really is very helpful for many people.

I think that you get less online stuff if you're not going to meetings, but even so, that might be a possibility. I'm not sure if they badger you, though...

Nope - you can get ALL the online stuff without going to meetings. Then there's the set up where you get all of it - all the online stuff AND the meetings. They don't badger you about meetings, either.

Oh, I knew you could get the online stuff alone without meetings if you do WW Online, but they won't let you do WW Online for the reimbursement, alas. Just the meeting version. I thought you got fewer online tools if you did the meeting version.

How close are you weight-wise to the pictures you took last January? Because let me tell you, you looked absolutely amazing in those photos -- as evidenced by the fact that I still remember them a year later. :)

Thanks. :) I'm about 8 pounds heavier than there, I think.

See, I would picture that as not being bad at all. Of course, you're the one who has to live with your body, but if you feel like you need to lose weight, I hope it's not because you don't think you're beautiful as you look now.

It's not BAD, but it's not as good as I could be. Plus, I want my clothes to fit better! I'm only 5'3", barely, and should ideally weigh less than I do now.

What is the deal with WW online? Aren't there similar programs and websites?

Yeah, I imagine, but I like the way WW works as a program. It works well for me. I eat a lot of fiber, not much fat, and plenty of lean protein, fruits, and veggies when I'm sticking to it, and it gives me a convenient way to calculate and keep track of stuff. I think I am still going to do my bootleg thing, though, instead of going to meetings.

*nod* Michelle was on a similar website that approximated her daily calorie/fat/etc. intake but it sounds like the program you've got going works well for you. I'm sure you'll do just fine.

I need to lose the weight, too.

There's always sparkdiet.com for tracking your current status etc.

I have TheDailyPlate.com for that, which seems to be similar.

www.crossfit.com ???

diet and exercise. in this case, killer exercise, but the enthusiasm behind it is really the important part.

I'm already in a three times per week fitness program, and adding crossfit into my plan would damage me.

3 times a week is great!

i'm easing into the idea myself. without a "box" to workout in, i can only approximate, but i'm upping my intensity slowly but surely - damage bad. got weight to drop and muscles to build.

and from what portion of your tiny little anatomy are you planning on losing weight???? the only place you have weight to lose is your bust and i think that looks good with the extra padding...

Actually, there's plenty at my waist and thighs that I usually dress well enough to hide. :)
