1. Girls' dinner-and-movie night was good--good company, good food, good movie. And damn, Eccleston looks good in a dress uniform. *swoon*

2. Brunch on Saturday was fun, even though I had only met one of the people there before!

3. Pajama party was a blast. I tied for first place in the "best pajamas" vote and had to play Twister to settle the tie, which I won. :) [livejournal.com profile] geoogo was there with bells on *giggle*, and there were lots of awesome folks around. I learned how to play Chez Geek.

4. Sunday was mostly spent in cooking and laundry.

5. Today's bento: surimi (faux crab) salad, onigiri (heart-shaped, made with kombu dashi and sprinkled with cod roe furikake), and a mix of blanched asparagus, tomato, and little carrot flowers, with balsamic vinegar to sprinkle on it. I made onigiri!!!

6. Dance tonight. I didn't memorize the drill. Crap. Oh well, c'est la vie.

I am not sure if you can do carrots but these sound very filling if you cut down on some of the oil

I've definitely had carrot salads before. I love carrots. I like them as soup, in particular!

buttery parsnips :) slice them thick, and fry them, they taste almost like frenchfries, but nicer - similar texture but carroty. mmm. also, nearly no carbs. nearly. unlike frenchfries.

I do love parsnips. I do a lot of baked "fries", and I love roasted parsnips.

My father does this thing where he splits zucchini lengthwise, scoops out a little from the middle, and pipes in a mixture of carrots, parsnips, and cream that's been blended smooth, and then he bakes them. These are very, very tasty little guys.

ah, tip # 2371 on what to do with too many summer zukes :)

sounds nummy.

i like the method of making little "cups" out of them, including reblending the insides, and then stuffing with stuff that stuffs. extra material is just source material for the stock pot.

i'm tempted to get a GOOD pressure cooker, drop in a crap load of stuff, and WHOOSH. instant stews. good for winter.
