Feb. 21st, 2009 08:26 pmSometimes, you just can't ask for a better way to spend your time than with a dear friend and some tasty food. I'm very glad that
vervain13 could come over for dinner tonight. It kept me from dwelling on what I'm NOT doing, and gave me something else to do that was enjoyable and much-needed. I consider him and his hubby my "Fairy Godfathers" because they will, on occasion, whisk their friends away and make them feel fabulous and pampered. But really, he's my brother. He's the big gay brother I never had. We had a lovely dinner and great conversation, and I just said goodnight to him.
Now, I think it's time for some Torchwood or something else enjoyable along those lines. After I send an e-mail to someone who came up in conversation.
For anyone who's interested, this was our low-carb-and-WW-friendly dinner:
1. Tuna steaks marinated in soy sauce, sake, ginger, garlic, and wasabi, seared to rare
2. Thinly sliced English cucumbers, marinated in rice wine vinegar with a touch of salt and Splenda
3. Ginger steamed baby purple and striped eggplant, tossed with a little more ginger and a light drizzle of toasted sesame oil
4. German Spaetlese Riesling
Delicious!
