The boy's off to get a few more supplies from the brewing shop, and I've put my hair back in a bandanna to keep it out of the beer. Soon, we will get that wort boiling. W00t! This is going to be a stout, and I'm really excited about it. I thought it was going to be an all-grain batch, but we're going to do an extract batch this time, and all-grain next time. Which I think means we can get the dang mashtun off the dining room table now.

On another note, it's awfully refreshing not to have to launch into a detailed explanation of "the whole poly thing" when reconnecting with someone who I haven't talked to in years. I mention that my boyfriend's other girlfriend and I gave the boy parts of BSG for Christmas, and I get back, "So you mean you're poly? Me too." Heh. Yeah, nice change from, "Um, WTF?"

Got Ashley MacIsaac playing now. I need to get more of his stuff, since I've only got two albums. He just plain kicks ass. Any guy who does high kicks on stage while wearing a kilt regimental style, and who plays fiddle like he sold his soul to the devil...yeah, he rocks my socks.

Time to call the maternal unit and say my weekend howdy. Ta for now.

What a cool reaction. Imagine that? What are the odds of that? Very cool.

Happy brewing!

You might also like Natalie MacMaster (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdHR12lPcgI) and Leahy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqg0l43dbv4). Natalie tends to dance and fiddle, but I can't find one that shows that properly. It's sometimes like her top half is fiddling, and the bottom half from her ribcage down is attached to a separate, step dancing person!

Wow. I'm way impressed. (I'm also waiting for it to happen to me...methinks I have a loooong wait.)

Good to know! I figured you've been hanging around my LJ long enough to pick up the general idea, anyway. :)

Hehe, sharing the philosophy helps, too :)

Eeeenteresting! I wouldn't have guessed that of you. Then again, I doubt many people I knew in high school would have guessed it of me, seeing as at the time I was all head-over-heels for one guy and one guy only. Then again, he WAS Mr. Mysterious And Charismatic With A Sexy Accent. I have a sneaking suspicion most people didn't even think he was real when I talked about him, until he showed up at the prom. Heh.

Life throws some amusing curveballs.

For me, it's "whole wheat cinnamon bread day", which I didn't realize when I came up here last night. Apparently this bread requires making three different doughs with different ingredients over the course of two days, before the final rising & baking.

(It's also chickens in the bookstore day, hair trimming day, and contra dance day)

Mmm. That bread sounds fantastic, but hideously complicated. I'll stick with my fairly easy Tassajara recipes. :)
