Stuff and things

1. Yesterday ended up being pretty low-key for us. We had Irish breakfast at the Burren, followed by a couple beers, and listened to some music. We also ate lunch there. Then, we hit the Druid for one more beer, and by about 3ish, decided to go home. Problem was (in my opinion), there was very little live music at the less-insanely-packed venues until the evening, and we didn't really want to sit around nursing beers all day without listening to music. My vote is for next year, getting out of work a little bit early, going to a place that will have a good live band, paying the cover charge if there is one yet, and nursing a beer before dinner. Then, eat dinner there and stay there for the evening with another beer or two, listening to the music. On the plus side, we watched Buckaroo Banzai at home. :)

2. Bento today: lentil soup, again, and a mix of roasted radishes, carrots, green beans, and onions. Yum!

3. Tomorrow night, I'm going to see Coriolanus with blue_gargantua, if all goes well. I know nothing about the play. Better read up! I do tend to like Shakespeare when it's actually performed, though I don't much like reading it.

4. Boy, NERAX is early this year. I'm looking forward to it! j4yx0r: Are you and my_buried_heart still planning on coming up to Boston for a day next week? If so, you two would LOVE NERAX. The boy and I are going Wednesday and Thursday, and you're welcome to join us. It's an evening thing—6 to 10:30—so I know the timing might not be ideal for you. I'd recommend getting there plenty early if you want to go, because you'd have to wait in line for tickets at the door.

5. First weekend in April, when the boy will be in the field, I'm heading to RI. I'm going to crash with my parents, but will end up spending most of my time there with a friend from high school with whom I recently reconnected. That should certainly be interesting.

YES. It's so amazingly over-the-top bizarre that it manages to actually be COOL while being hilariously cheesetastic. Not many movies can manage to do that. The Wickerman is the only other one I can think of off the top of my head.

I think part of it is simply the awe I feel that the actors do it all with a straight face, and while wearing those clothes.

It IS fun. I don't really do it as awesomely as I could. I tend to just do a three-item bento most days, where I have something protein-y, something starchy, and lots of veggies. I try to put various colors in, and to arrange stuff neatly and prettily, but bentolunch has much more awesome stuff. I figure I'll be more likely to use little bits of this and that and have more variety when I'm not counting WW points at lunch anymore. But I've been bad lately, foodwise, and need to do better.

This sounds like an incredible event! We actually get in early AM on Wednesday so a trip to Boston in the afternoon would be tough. Thursday is possible but I'd originally planned to catch Improv Jones in Provie. Is there any chance one or both of you could play with us during the day on Thursday so we can make it a full day trip?

Unfortunately, I doubt either of us will be available during the day on Thursday. I get out of work at about 4:15, and could meet up with you after that, but there wouldn't be much time before you'd want to get in line...
