Stuff in my life
Apr. 7th, 2009 09:13 am1. The landlord is coming over this evening to check out the fridge (probably to make the repair-or-replace decision).
pierceheart had MREs for dinner last night, and we did oatmeal for breakfast again this morning. I'm getting a bit tired of this. Having no fridge and no freezer gets old REAL fast, especially when you're a cooking fiend. Plus, being on a diet, it's very limiting. I might suspend things and just go into maintenance-mode until our fridge is working and restocked.
2. On the plus side, I hadn't made a fully public post about this yet, but...I had a first date with someone this weekend. I went to high school with this guy. We had crushes on one another even back then, but hadn't realized it was mutual. Before Friday night, we hadn't seen each other in almost ten years. For LJ purposes, he will be known as JB. JB lives in Rhode Island and has his days off in the middle of the week instead of the weekends, which makes things a bit tough. However, I already have a second date with him planned for tomorrow, when he has a day off and
pierceheart had already decided to have a date with his other sweetie. And there will assuredly be future dates as well, because this is a Good Thing.
3. Last night's dance class was quite fun. We broke into a couple of groups and each group tag-teamed the same long-ish song. It's a GOOD song, one of the Arabic classics that I like quite a bit. In our sections, we basically got to improv as we chose. My group included myself and another Capricorn (
nepenthe01), so we actually managed quite a bit of planning in the 20 minutes allotted. No surprises there. Besides it seemed like
nepenthe01 already had a Vision in mind, so it seemed right to let her roll with that. :)
4. You know, I really am addicted to yogurt. Sheesh. It's ridiculous. Last night's dessert was Chobani fat free Greek yogurt with vanilla. It was sheer bliss. I think I'd just as soon have that as crème brulée. Maybe even MORE than crème brulée. OM NOM NOM. It's almost like at the first taste of good strained yogurt, some long-dormant part of my Armenian soul woke up and started clamoring for more, more, more. I really must make my own again sometime soon. Maybe on a weekend instead of overnight, so I can monitor and adjust the temperature of the inoculated milk over time.
5. This weekend, I need to start planning and preparing and buying stuff for the baby shower food. Oh crap, I hope to fuck my fridge is functional soon. I'd love to be able to make the quiches this Saturday if possible and freeze them. I need to organize recipes and ask a few folks for favors, too. Nothing big, but I may need someone to pick up bagels and cream cheese, and I will probably have to borrow some teapots and stuff, and any kind of holder/container I can use to transport cupcakes.

Date: 2009-04-07 05:23 pm (UTC)I knew I had to dance to it on Saturday night (my set with the band was pre-determined by the event sponsor), so I spent the weekend before analyzing the musical sections and watching famous dancers perform to it.
I would like to do it for recital as a group tag team piece!
