So, I've wanted a fabulous 50s-style dress for ages. I love the one that was my grandmother's, though I think I could find better styles and a better fit. Since hearing a bit of 50s music in the car with JB, I'm now obsessing on this topic again.

Problem is, I have no idea what would look good on me. I never get to try on stuff like this, you know? But...I'm so tempted. I mean, look at these.

The last two links are the same, but you'd look good in either of those, I think.
Might be easier to make your own than to buy vintage ($138?? Gah.). I know you say you can't sew, but you probably know lots of costumers who could help you with that as a project, walking you through a pattern.

Or...y'know, decide it's a quest and go searching through the thrift stores for that hidden treasure.

You'd look good in both of them, but somehow the peachy one w/the rosette is the one that really screams "BADSEED!" to me--you could definitely work that one bigtime. ;-)

You know, I wasn't going to buy any of them, but...if that one still has no bids in a few hours, I might just bid up to maybe $60. I doubt I'll get it—probably no one bids until like ten minutes before the auction closes and then they immediately go up to like $150—but it can't hurt. What's the worst that could happen? Either I spend $60 plus shipping and get a kick-ass dress, or I don't lose any money.

Actually, I guess the worst that could happen is that I could win, but end up with a dress that looks like crap on me or doesn't even fit me. I THINK it should, though. I'm just a little worried about my thighs and the bust. I actually have a 39" bust...
