Good morning!
Jul. 20th, 2009 09:37 amThis was one of those mornings when I hit the snooze button (I do so just once) and then fell so deeply asleep again that the next time the alarm went off, I went to hit it again, thinking it was for the first time. Then I saw that the clock said 6:09. Ah. No more sleep for me. Consequently, I was pretty groggy this morning. I walked out the door without my bento and had to go back for it! Today's is a spicy tuna onigiri, three mini sweet peppers full of garlic hummus, and a salad of artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, reduced fat feta, and balsamic vinegar. Yum!
We're going to have a couple days of rain tomorrow and Wednesday, most likely, so I should make an effort to take a nice walk today on my break. I'll probably do the over the BU bridge->up Comm Ave-> over the Mass Ave bridge-> down Memorial Drive circuit. It's about 3 miles. That, plus the mile walk home from Sullivan, will be good exercise for today. Then I can make my lovely dinner: shish kebab! Lamb, green peppers, onions, and tomatoes. The lamb has been marinating in a little olive oil, lemon juice, grated onion, garlic, and parsley since yesterday morning. I'll have it with bulgur and a salad. Perhaps after a meal like that, a glass of pomegranate wine will be in order! I'm going to broil the kebabs, because I don't want to have to worry about cleaning up a grill. Or, you know, doing it wrong and ending up with icky food.
So, we have at least one tomato starting to ripen! This one has split so badly that I don't know if it'll still be good. I'll cut it open before eating it, when it's ripe. Last night while watering the plants, I saw at least three or four ladybugs on them. Yay! Those little guys are ALWAYS welcome in my garden. Can't ask for a more pleasant form of pest control.
I need to knit again. I need to get back to work on my skirt. I need to make a whole BUNCH of things. I haven't picked up the needles in too long.
