It's an Irish day.
Jul. 24th, 2009 10:14 amYeah, today I got very nostalgic for Ireland when I went outside. I think that more than just the rain, it was the fact that I wore my raincoat, something I don't always do when it rains. The raincoat is an L.L. Bean Gore-Tex jacket that I got when I went to Ireland. I practically lived in it while I was there, wearing it with thick sweaters underneath for most of the winter instead of a winter coat, because it kept out the damp. Wearing it makes me want tea with milk and sugar and Walker's shortbread. It makes me want to cook curried lentils, like I did in the kitchen of my little Corrib Village flat. It makes me want to sit in the lounge area at the student center on the NUIG campus. It makes me want to walk the streets of Galway again.
Anyway, this rain has put me in a good mood, oddly enough. The rain in Galway did eventually get me down: there were times in the winter where we'd go for days and days without sunlight, as we just did here for so much of June. But right now, it's good.

The kids from Roscommon said it reminded them of home but it was colder...
