Fucking assholes. One of my future sisters-in-law lives in Florida, and I really don't know if she'll have any more children (she's got one already). I would hate to have this happen to her.

What gets me most about all this is that even with them forcing her to stay at the hospital, the fetus still died in utero. That rendered the "care" given not only unwanted, but now completely unnecessary and wasted! I hope she sues the hell out of everyone involved in this travesty, including the courts that forced it on her.

'Cause it's not actually like a woman's body is hers or anything.

Sheesh. I'm feeling a real rage here that needs to be let out on the offending parties. Anybody up for a road trip to Florida? B-Y-O-B-B (bring your own baseball bat).

These are the articles that need to be spread far and wide to anyone on the fence about national health care and women's reproductive rights.

This is the part of the Pro-Choice movement that gets overlooked.

This is sadly not the first time I've heard about this. Being on feministing and the Our Bodies,Ourselves blogs, I've read quite a bit about women who were forced against their will into medical procedures to "protect the fetus,"

Scares the living hell out of me.

Unsurprisingly, it's Florida. Yet another reason to never want to go there.

This is why I'm glad I had my baby over here...because while they care about your unborn fetus, until it's actually OUT of you YOU are considered slightly more important and they work WITH you instead of against you.

Well at least in Devon they do.

I don't think I'll be coming back to America anytime soon. They health care scares me.

It can really vary widely on a state-by-state basis here.

True, but there general practices that are common in America that also bother me. I know in my home state they pressure very very much for epidurals and unnecessary cesareans. Pregnancy is an illness and the fetus is more important than the mother.

It makes me angry.

Sooo...the two already-born kids had no right to a mother who went to work and was therefore able to feed them????

WTF?

Rowr! What a sick-making piece of news! Definitely she should sue. And may the consciences of all the medical people involved weigh heavily upon them.

Right, this is why
