This was a heck of a busy weekend, but lots of fun. I went to Rhode Island Friday night. I hung out with my parents for a few hours and had dinner with them. When J got out of work, he picked me up. We went out to a club for a little while, which was a nice chance to get dressed up. Apparently, the movie he's in (I think just as an extra, or in a very minor role) is a sci-fi/horror flick set in the '50s, that involves an alien plot to kidnap Elvis. Neato. We went to his friends' wedding on Saturday. The church was tucked away in a corner of Fall River that is apparently located in another dimension or something, and can only be accessed at certain times, and when approaching from a certain direction. We were half an hour late to the ceremony. We got to the rehearsal place in plenty of time, though. The music sucked, but at least we got seated at a table with the cool kids. :) J drove me home afterwards.

On Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart and I got all decked out for the wedding of [livejournal.com profile] tigira and [livejournal.com profile] meadmaker. We arrived early at the ceremony location because he was involved in the ceremony and I was acting as a spare pair of hands and as a stand-in for the bride in the run-through. The wedding was beautiful (and so was the bride!), and I got all teary. The reception afterwards was a blast, with very tasty food, awesome people everywhere, and enthusiastic dancing. I caught the bouquet when it was tossed, and while I don't really believe in the "next to marry" thing (I caught the bouquet at a wedding when I was 14), it makes a lovely souvenir of the occasion. This throwing bouquet was made of white silk flowers, so they will last. And they look pretty in my silver vase!

Monday, [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart and I went to King Richard's Faire. It was fun, as usual. I went there not planning to buy anything big, but ended up getting a new bodice. The one I had was not boned (though it is pretty sturdy suede), and those just don't seem to work well on me. It might work better on someone who doesn't wear a bodice as tight as I like to do. It really is a nice bodice, but not so good for me. The new one has plastic boning, but it seems like STURDY plastic boning, and it's reversible: it's plain red on one side (good for ren faires), and black with jolly rogers on the other side (good for Arisia and other events where I like being piratical). When we got home, [livejournal.com profile] j4yx0r, who was in New England for a while, came over to hang out for a few hours. It was good seeing him again.

And now, back to the grind. I need a weekend to recover from my weekend! :)

glad you had fun! and glad you got to be at the wedding... i was unable to even get online to post until recently (sigh)

reverrsible bodices are good. although i prefer steel boning, plastic boning is ok in a bodice (if not a corset)

Yeah, I prefer steel boning myself, but this is sturdier than other plastic boning I've seen, and it shouldn't curl or ripple, I think.

It was very nice to see you both

It was good to see you and your family, too! I won't be there tonight because I need to do some grocery shopping, but maybe next week.
