Happy birthday,
hippie1025!
Sorry I couldn't make it to your party. I crashed as soon as I got in last night. I hope it was lots of fun!
Second of all, the reason why I crashed:
Stitches East was made of awesome.
dee_cee and I were utterly overwhelmed by the sheer amounts of yarn and other knitting stuff at hand. The colors, the textures, the patterns...wow. By the time we left, I was seeing yarn and knitted items every time I closed my eyes. I managed to score a few nifty things:
1. A kick-ass tee shirt with a skull that's sort of morphed into a ball of yarn, with knitting needles coming from the top and through the eye sockets. It's all gnarly and badass, and it says, "Born To Knit" on a banner underneath.
2. A skull-and-knitting-needles button for my knitting bag
3. About 1600 yards of a pretty green-variegated sock yarn that's going to be used to make a lacy shawl. This was being sold for 50% off.
4. 2 skeins of this gorgeous yarn in dark and rich variegated shades, with a little sparkle running through it. I got two colorways, and both are beautiful. It's a sock yarn again, but it will probably be mini-wraps, scarves, or fingerless mitts.
I got to pet qiviut. I got to pet cashmere and angora. I got to pet suri alpaca. I got to gape at beautiful and complex knitted garments the likes of which I'd never seen before. I got to raise my eyebrows at some exceedingly ugly ones. And all the time,
dee_cee and I chattered and had a great time. And little MR was SO good. She's quite the little social butterfly.
I wanted to do a little knitting when I got home, and a VERY little knitting was all I had the energy to do, even though dinner was just microwaved leftovers and I hadn't had to cook. I was BEAT. It was a hell of a day. Total success. :)
