I made my lunch out of fail this morning.

OK, so the cucumber slices with rice vinegar, chili pepper paste, and Splenda were pretty good. But everything else was NOT. At least, not after I microwaved it. The edamame, which had been frozen, dried out, burnt, and stuck together because I forgot to add water before nuking. The quesadilla, which had been lovely when I wrapped it, turned into a soggy glob. Clearly they don't reheat well in the microwave. Next time, I'll unwrap it, put it on a separate plate (so as not to get everything else cheesy), and nuke it like that. MEH. I didn't want a second PBJ sandwich (that was my breakfast), so I went up to Zigo and got their cheese tortellini with butternut squash, hazelnuts, and sage brown butter, and also some broccoli and cauliflower with garlic and olive oil. NOM. Ordinarily I'd say I'm at least a good a cook as the people at Zigo, but today, they really beat me by a hell of a lot. Fine by me. This is tasty. Cheese, butter, and white pasta: not so healthy. But the squash, broccoli, and cauliflower provide fiber and vitamins, so it's not SO bad. And my whole day will still be meatless, since my curry tonight will be vegetarian. (No, I'm not going veggie. I had duck confit last night!)

EDIT: OMG, [livejournal.com profile] tryst_inn, you MUST confit some of your eating-ducks!!! Seriously, trust me on this one.

i have a bad love/hate/want to stab in the face relationship with microwaves and leftovers. I hate them.
