1. I ran into my favorite purveyor of pornography at Trader Joe's today! Yes, my friend S from Circlet was there buying groceries. He is a vegetarian. I did not know that.

2. Apparently, [livejournal.com profile] sionnain, today is REALLY the "my way is the right way and if you feel otherwise UR DOIN IT WRONG" day. And not just in fanfic-land, either. People on the PMM boards are being snooty about the fact that going Dutch on dates is OMG RUDE AND CLASSLESS. At least they aren't being sexist about it, but still. I always assume, going on a date with anyone but J, that I will pay for what I order and they will pay for what they order. J HATES going Dutch, but if he buys dinner for us both, I'll pay for the movie. And I buy groceries and cook much of the time, or I'll pay for the takeout. And neither of us "invites" the other: we have a standing date.

3. I haz cranberries! Sauce will be made tomorrow night!

4. I DO NOT WANT TO CALCULATE THIS DUDE'S STOCK HOLDINGS. SRSLY.

I roasted them at 400 degrees until they started to look a little wrinkled. Test them to see if they're tender after about half an hour. If not, leave them in a bit longer.

Wait, wot? Dutch is rude and classless? While we're being idiotic, could we maybe point out to the pinheads that perhaps calling it "Dutch" could be seen as a wee bit racist? Or culturalist? (Or whatever inanity we want to call it, because WOW IT'S DUMB.)

Yea and verily. Unfortunate nicknames aside, I mean, really. I thought we got over all this a long time ago.

I totally believe in paying my own way. If someone insists, I'll back down, but will offer to pay for something else or return the favor in another way (I mean, of course, by cooking a meal or bringing them a gift another time... lol)

Oy, who pays for what on dates...that was an endless source of frustration with my most recent ex. Despite the fact that I made more money than him (and I knew precisely how much he was making, as my husband was in the same PhD program making the same stipend), he hated letting me pay my own way...EVER. I remember one date where I was insisting on paying, got up to use the bathroom, and when the check came while I was up, he grabbed it and paid it. I think in 8 months I succeeded in paying for anything maybe twice.

When my husband and I were first dating, we easily established a swap-off rapport without ever talking or thinking about it much. If a person wants to pay for me on the first date, as some have, sure, no problem. I'll pay for the both of us next time. :) This isn't rocket science. ;)
