Cool stuff
Dec. 3rd, 2009 03:54 pm1. I took on a small detective-work task this morning when my manager asked for someone to do it. It didn't take me all that long. It was basically, "find out who this alumnus married after his first wife passed away." I got the definitive answer, told our data entry people to make sure his first wife showed up as deceased in the system, and to put in the name of his new wife. I told all that to the development officer who requested it, and he sent me back an e-mail that started with, "you rule!" *is smug*
2. Yesterday, there was a contest online to name two colors of hand-dyed yarn that someone had made, and if you won the contest, you'd win a skein of one of the yarns. I made a couple of suggestions, and one of them seems to have been a runner up. I didn't win, but I'm glad the thought I put in was appreciated! (FWIW, I'd suggested "Diamonds and Rust" for a pretty coppery-rusty color, after a Joan Baez song.)
3. It is beautiful out there right now. Windy and sunny and warm. Feels like spring. Usually I dislike way-out-of-wack fluke-weather days, but today it was invigorating. I think I'm more tired than I realized, though: the day is dragging by amazingly slowly, and I feel pretty brain-dead. I've been sleeping badly the past few nights. But taking a walk in this weather helped me wake up a bit.
4. Although I seem to have lost my tiny crochet hook (drat, but at least it's not hard to replace), I have made good headway on my shawl. I have decided that I am quite a good enough knitter to do reasonably complicated lace work! Yay! This, of course, makes me want to do more of it. *glee*
