I know that 2009 was pretty horrid for a lot of people. One way we might make 2010 a bit better is to spread some love around. So if you care to reply to this post I will give you a response of something I like about you.

I like the fact that in spite of dealing with some really physically and emotionally tough things, you're not only capable and strong, but willing to reach out and give love--not just to your family and friends, but to fuzzy little critters who need your help, as well.

I like the fact that you're so pragmatic about things dealing with human relationships, without reducing them to a cold science. And to return the favor, first I must set aside your physical attributes as the description of your beauty would take volumes, I will say I have admired your positivity.

Yours is not an ignorant optimism, but you seem to be one of those folks familiar with Frost's aphorism, "This too shall pass." And therefore taking joy from the happy moments as they last and solace that the unhappy ones are finite in duration.

It makes me feel good knowing that there are people like you--people who care about individual rights, people who don't discriminate because of religion, etc.--in the military. I respect all those who serve for their service, but not all of them are worthy of respect for other reasons. You are.

It's hard to pinpoint the stuff that makes you as amazing as you are. But it's not hard to just find stuff I really like about you, so let's start with that:

* I completely grok your desire to make your home a place that is welcoming and enjoyable for your family and friends, and I think you do a wonderful job of it.

* You are an amazing mom. You've done such a great job raising your son so far. He's an awesome little mini-human.
