It is probably going to be:
Feb. 9th, 2010 12:59 pmTHIS ONE.
I am probably going to order it tomorrow, unless I get a response to my e-mail I sent yesterday saying, "No no, you are TOTALLY looking at the wrong cup size based on the measurements and bra size info you sent us. You need size [blah] because this won't even come close to fitting you." (If I get that e-mail after ordering it, well, they have a reasonable return policy.)
Luckily, the amount of my tax refund that's going into my checking account will more than cover this. :D
I also sent to L. Rose for fabric samples of:
1. Red luxury velvet. If it matches my red velvet skirt, I'm going to buy a "dance bra" top from them in that fabric, and decorate both it and the skirt. I even have a button/brooch/thingy that was my grandmother's--a red glass cabochon surrounded by rhinestones, about 1.25" diameter--that would look AWESOME in the center of the bra. I will probably also get some rhinestones or Swarovski crystals or something, too.
2. Red holographic fabric and red metalskin. These are in case the BDS costume I linked to above falls through. If that happens, I might consider getting a dance bra AND a new skirt (trumpet, with slit) made. These are shiny stretchy fabrics, and the holo at least might even look good without excess decoration. This will be useful if I don't have a lot of time between getting and deciding against the BDS costume, and needing a recital costume. If I have more time, I might simply make the red velvet costume.
3. Red china silk and purple china silk. The purple would probably make a great veil for the BDS costume. The red would be good for replacing my existing red silk veil, which is somewhat shrunken after accidentally making its way into the washer and dryer. Oops! It's also not fabulous quality.
I am really, really, really hoping that all goes well: that the BDS costume is acquired and looks fantastic, and that the red velvet matches my skirt, so I can have TWO great new costumes for a reasonable amount of cash! Right now, the only costume I have that I can really wear is the karsilama costume in this icon. It's lovely, but it only really works for karsh.

Date: 2010-02-09 10:43 pm (UTC)Looking at the price tag I now remember why I didn't get into belly dancing--between the 3+ books I buy per week and all the pet and home repair stuff, I can't afford another hobby (as awesome as it may be). I still love watching skilled performances, though, and hope you'll post a video!
