OK, so first, the good:

1. The cups fit as perfectly as I could have hoped. DD/DDD was the right answer. Yes!

2. The waist of the skirt is perfect: no muffin top, no bagginess!

Now, the less-good:

1. The halter and ribcage straps are too long. I will have to sew new hooks over sequined areas in order to get enough overlap for them to fit right. That might be a pain in the tuckus.

2. The skirt itself is indeed too long, by about an inch and a half. There is about a 2" space under the major decoration of the skirt, at the hem, which is good. But the hem itself has beading and sequins along it, that also run up the sides slit in the skirt. This is problematic. I can hand-sew a hook, but I haven't the foggiest idea how to hem something this ornate. I would need help from someone who's attacked dance costumes successfully with a sewing machine, I think.

And here's the bad-but-good:

Thanks! A fellow dancer has suggested just tacking the hem up so I don't have to cut off the decoration on the bottom. That might work nicely! I might need a little help with it, but I'll bet I can get that.

The ribcage/halter straps are always too long, but this is a good thing! It means that it's adjustable. I always leave in the original hooks& eyes and add my own. That way, if I sell it, the next person will have options. Heck, sometimes I just pin it in location and just put it over my head.
Wow you look hot in that costume, so slender. This style REALLY suits your figure.

Thanks! Yeah, it really is an amazingly flattering costume. That might also be partly due to the mirror being a flattering mirror, though. :)

I'm just utterly psyched that the cups fit! I appreciate the advice you gave me about your experiences with their sizing. That's what convinced me this would probably be the right size.

Now I need to hit Windsor Button to see about getting some new hooks, and hopefully find a friend who knows sewing better than I do to help me tack up the hem.

Looks good!
I agree with N--having a bit too much and adjusting is a good option. Better than too small!

Thanks! Yeah, a little less extra wouldn't have sucked, but I can deal. :)

No I think that it is more you than the costume. The costume is just the highlight.

That should of have said Nope- it is more you than the costume. Only because the no set the wrong tone for what I was trying to say:)

A couple of them have reacted in comments. :) My own boy is on a date tonight, so I will have to wait for his reaction.

You need to have the phone handy so you can catch his face when he sees you try it on for him.

I think that is one lucky costume. Great choice! It doesn't hurt that you look really happy and comfortable in your own skin.

Thank you! From what I understand, magenta and fuchsia type colors are flattering to a very wide range of skin tones.

It looks completely vavavoom. On another note perhaps you should consider sending it to a professional to get altered, there might even be someone who specializes in the dancing costumes. Of course that might be prohibitive but you never know. You look absolutely fabulous.

Well, the only thing I really need help with is tacking up the hem of the skirt. I'll get someone who knows what they're doing to either do it for me, or stand by me and show me how to do it.

The rest is just sewing on new hooks by hand, which is quite easy.

And thanks. :)
