Brief BPAL impressions

1. Haunted: I need a full-size of this one. Gorgeous warm golden amber and bittersweet musk. Perfection, definitely. MUST. HAVE. I have reached the conclusion that yes, amber is ME. Big time.

2. Wicked: So not me, alas. Myrrh, rose, and jasmine. Pretty, but not me.

3. Defututa: Haven't had a chance to really explore it yet, but it is NOT over-sweet, and it is yummy and a little heady.

4. Phoenix Steamworks: remeniscent of No. 93 Engine, but not quite as nifty. Somewhat metallic/bitter.

5. Satyr: I'll be in my bunk. That is all.

6. Lyonesse: lovely and somewhat dreamy. Soft. Nice. Very feminine.

And they gave me five frimps! (free samples) I have not yet explored them, just opened and sniffed.

1. Obsidian Widow - actually a very RED scent. Floral-wine. Not my thing, really: I don't like their wine scents.
2. Cathedral - pure resin incense. Nice-ish. I'd blend it with stuff, maybe, or use it to scent items, not myself.
3. Ulalume - damp woody floral. Intriguing. Don't understand it yet, need to try it on.
4. The Sluggard - a sweet fruity-floral. Probably can't wear it, but it's not icky.
5. Shanghai - pretty, light, summery, herbal-citrus-floral. I don't know if I'll wear it, but it is a very pleasant scent.

Ambers and aromatic woods are my favorites, too. Sadly, I haven't had great luck with BPAL stuff; I ordered six imps, and for a first try, I picked all stuff that should have been slam dunks for me based on their descriptions and listed ingredients. NONE of them smelled good on me, to me. I almost cried. :-/

Huh. My first round of imps, I bought stuff mostly based on name and description, not on ingredients. That was a mistake! I've since started buying based on ingredients, and also taking forum reviews into account.
