Random stuff, as usual

1. I am going out tonight with a bunch of people to see the new Robin Hood movie with Russell Crowe! Having looked briefly at a few reviews, it sounds like it'll be a big target for anyone with a stick up their ass about historical/legendary accuracy, but it'll be entertaining as a big dramatic adventure. That's all I'm looking for, personally. Well, that, and some yummy Russell Crowe action. *reminisces dreamily about that costume in Gladiator* We'll be eating dinner at Jacob Wirth before the movie. I might get another veggie burger with bacon. I like places that get that right. :D

2. I'd chatted back and forth with a guy on OKCupid a few times, was planning on meeting him in person, but that seems to have died out in the e-mail stage. Oh well.

3. I am wearing a very, very blue shirt today. Not sky blue, not aqua, not navy, but BLUE. I haven't worn a shirt this color in at least a decade, I think. It used to be my favorite color as a kid, but as I got older, I didn't think it looked good on me. Then a couple years ago, I saw my mom wearing a shirt this color, and realized it looked fantastic on her. Me, too.

4. I am SO looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. I still have a sleep deficit from when I was sick!

5. I am excited about going to Anaheim for the APRA conference. There are some great sessions this year, and...I'll be going to California for the first time in my life! I get to travel anywhere out of state but RI, Milford (CT), Rockville, and Four Quarters so rarely that I'd be stupid to turn this down. Maybe one day I'll be really lucky and get to take a vacation to someplace nifty and exotic or different, but until that day comes, I'll take advantage of stuff like this. Also, with luck, I will get to see j4yx0r and my_buried_heart ! And eat an In-n-Out Burger! (Are they REALLY that good? Or is it just overhyped?)

That seems to happen a good percentage of the time (and I know I'm an offender there). Too easy to get distracted away from people you only know as pixelicious potential partners pending physical presentation.

Yeah, and I don't resent the guy because I completely understand it. We each had a busy stretch during which we took longer to reply to the other person, but at this point, I think I'm just not getting another reply.

I've gotten a bit apathetic about trying to meet guys on OKC because of stuff like this, and especially because it always seemed to be the same people coming up: either guys I'd dated already, or guys I knew I wasn't interested in dating. But lately I've seen two or three new faces. I might dare to e-mail one or two of them. Historically I haven't had great luck with that, but we'll see. I don't take it personally or get all offended when someone doesn't respond to my initial message, which i think makes life easier. :)

I could have (and might have, elsewhere/when) written pretty much exactly this myself (with a few gender changes in the text).

On a tangential note, though: 95%!!! Wow, maybe we should start ignoring each-others' emails!

Hooray! And as far as In-N-Out, my fellow Los Angelinos would lynch me for saying this, but I do think they're somewhat overhyped. Definitely try one, but I think they're pretty standard. There are better burgers in LA. I would love to take you on some interesting food adventures.

In-N-Out may be overhyped, but I agree--try one while you're there. I did and it was fun, if not the Ultimate Burger of the Universe (TM). (Hint: don't wear anything that can't be stain-treated to the Nth degree, 'cause they're messy as all get-out.)

Ah, you will be right in our neck of the woods. (I was just down in Santa Ana today for a data collection.) We're actually closer to Anaheim than we are to L.A. by a few miles.

James *loves* In-and-Out. I have never had one, but they smell really good. There is one in Upland, right next to us in Claremont.

When are you going to be here, anyway? I can't believe you have never been here!

The conference is from July 21-24. Well, sessions start the morning of the 22nd, but I'll be getting there on the 21st.

That sounds great! We'll have to work out the details as the date gets closer. Right now we have no idea what we will be doing, so it's up in the air. Chances are that we will be here, though.

*I* think In-n-Out burgers ARE that good. I've been eating them for over 30 years. I don't eat McD/JitBox/BurgerThing burgers.
