Today's accomplishments
May. 15th, 2010 06:22 pm1. Three loads of laundry done
2. Kitchen cleaned thoroughly (still need to do the floor in there)
3. Most of the garden planted!
Yeah, that last one's most exciting. We have two bush zucchini in five-gallon buckets with holes drilled in them. We'll see how those come out. We've got cilantro, parsley, oregano, jalapenos, Thai basil, sweet basil, Genovese basil, and a mystery hot pepper (possibly bird chilis or a relative) in window box style planters. We have lavender and marjoram in pots. We have more jalapenos in a homemade self-watering planter. We have brandywine tomatoes temporarily in small plastic pots (awaiting transplant to Topsy Turvy planters when they get bigger). We have a hanging pepper planter full of cayenne. We have a hanging basket planter full of catnip. We also have assorted temporarily-housed extras. I may post later about those extras to see if anyone wants them.
Whew! Now I am STARVING and since it's already almost 6:30, I'm going to get ready to go out for Korean with my man. We have done a lot of good work today. :)

Date: 2010-05-16 04:59 pm (UTC)You CAN buy tomato plants that have already sprouted and grown as big as seedling containers will allow, and transfer those directly to the topsy.
What I'm looking to do is let the tomatoes grow for a few weeks, and then transfer them such that the leaves are the only thing sticking out - leaving some stem inside the planter, for strength.
