Stuff I want to do this summer while [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart is away, to make sure that time doesn't become just six weeks of household chores, errands, TV, and cooking.

1. Go on a whale watch. I can get somewhat discounted tickets ($31, I think) through MITAC.

2. Eat clam cakes and chowdah in Rhode Island. Maybe at Aunt Carrie's? And have a Del's Lemonade!!!

3. Go to a museum that [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart wouldn't go to, like the Isabella Stewart Gardner or the MFA.

4. Have a girls' night out with some of my best female friends. Or a girls' night in, knitting or something.

5. Host people for dinner or brunch.

6. HIKE. In the Fells, probably.

7. Go to the Flea.

More will be added as I think of it.

If you're interested in architecture at all (I don't think you're into it, but I thought I'd offer it up), you could take yourself on an architectural tour around the area to really look at and check out the buildings in your area. (Ware & Van Brunt's Memorial Hall there at Harvard, for example -- great Victorian stuff, there. Also the "summer homes" there in Newport, R.I.)

I'm not that big on architecture, but I have been to the Newport mansions, or at least, quite a few of them. Talk about opulent! (I've also been to Versailles, which not only gilds the lily, but encrusts it with gems.)

Oh, the Gardner. It's exquisite. She was quite a swell, iconoclastic dame. (I also have a morbid fascination with the theft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isabella_Stewart_Gardner_Museum), supposedly the biggest one in history.)

Yeah, I went there only once, in the tenth grade, and loved it dearly. I'm a big admirer of the Dutch Masters, and they have some great works by them.

I'd happily join you on the whale watch.

I discovered a couple of years ago what a tremendously richer experience the Gardner is when one goes with someone who majored partly in art history. Speaking of museums and art, though, did you know that MONH in Lexington currently has an exhibit of Jim Henson, and the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester currently has an elaborate fictional world created by Hillary Scott?

Those sound cool! Not as easy for me to get to as the Gardner, but still awesome.

8. Celebrate [livejournal.com profile] j4yx0r's 30th birthday (Mid to late August, details forthcoming). =)

Ooh! I keep forgetting you're a few months younger than I am. Hopefully I'll be able to join you for that!

Don't let this opportunity pass you by like I did: you should DEFINITELY go on a carousel on your 30th, in honor of Logan's Run!

Hey, if you're into it, you could come roam my town (Salem, MA), while we discuss bellydance, Doctor Who, and the awesomeness of Terry Pratchett. The Peabody Essex Museum is pretty sweet, too. Evergreen's a pretty friendly bunch if you ever want to come up, just to socialize.

Not a bad plan! Salem's nice in summer. It might be a good idea for a day trip. :)
