Day of rest? Not in my house.
Jun. 6th, 2010 07:50 pmThings I did today:
* Ran errands. I bought a new toilet seat for my bathroom, an iPod case (finally), and some flowerpots.
* Gardened. I repotted the big rosemary plants in 12" (yikes) pots, because they were looking sad. I think this was what they needed. Lifting the bag of potting soil was so not easy. That thing is ENORMOUS.
* Cooked. I marinated a pound of flank steak in a sort of bulgogi marinade, and then for dinner, I also made some Japanese style rice and some stir-fried green beans and bean sprouts. I mixed it all up with a little hoisin and some chili paste. It was delicious. Sort of a half-assed imitation of bibimbap. Kind of. I've got enough for two lunches left over.
* Replaced the toilet seat. Taking off the old one was next to impossible. The plastic nut on the bottom of one of the bolts just wouldn't come off, and I couldn't hold it in place to turn the top of the bolt, either. I ended up MELTING that damned plastic nut enough to pull the bolt through. It worked. Putting the new seat on was a breeze by comparison. I feel really accomplished when I do stuff like this that most people would expect to be done by the man of the house. It reassures me that even when my man is elsewhere, I can do what needs to be done to keep my home in shape.
* Did laundry. I am still in the middle of this, actually. Included in the laundry are a number of towels that I used to soak up water that was coming in under the door to the deck during monsoons #1 and #2 this afternoon. Holy crap, that was a lot of water.
I'm gonna sleep well tonight, folks. I realized that sometimes, when I get a bee in my bonnet about getting shit done around the house, I need to REMIND myself to sit down and take a break now and then, instead of just going and going like the Energizer bunny. I am not the Energizer bunny.
