I like all three of my names, but I think they sound a little dorky when you say them together. Even just the first and last sound a little awkward together. When I say my full name, I feel like my tongue gets in its own way, somehow. I feel like there needs to be some different sound somewhere in there for maximum aesthetic appeal and ease of pronunciation. I do like the way it looks written out, though.

My opportunity to change it will probably come if and when I get married. I would probably change it. I don't know if I would keep my last name on as a middle name, or not. Certainly no hyphenation, because that would look and sound dumb with that combination.

But you can guarantee that if I have kids, I will be damned careful in picking names for them that I enjoy saying and don't stumble over if I say the whole thing. After all, it's important to really be able to get some serious authority in saying the kid's first, middle, and last names in a loud and angry voice when they do something wrong. :)

One of the joys of my grand daughter's name is that it can be sang to the tune of "If your happy and you know it". Very useful when we were teaching her her name. The downside is when it needs to be written in the full form. Ariana Julia Phoenix Cavanaugh-Pate :-)

I actually made my final decisions on my sons name by testing how it sounded shouted in an authoritarian voice.

Charles Edward Turner works!

It does indeed! It's always best when the first name is one you usually shorten to a nickname. When you go from, "Charlie, clean your room!" to "CHARLES EDWARD TURNER, DID I NOT TELL YOU TO CLEAN YOUR ROOM?" it' s scary!
