A much less expensive purchase
Jun. 17th, 2010 03:28 pmEver find yourself wishing, "Gee, I wish there were a book about foraging in urban environments, particularly one that had information about stuff local to me?" Yeah, me too! (OK, I realize I am probably alone on this one.)
Anyway: serendipity struck today! I was walking to Whole Foods to get stuff for dinner, and I was passing by this little gallery that's on the way. In the window was a book called Urban Foraging by a guy named David Craft, and a sign saying, "Hot off the press! $10." I practically squeed. I went inside, and the woman working there said they didn't take credit cards, so I told her I'd come back on my way back from Whole Foods. I did so, and now I am in possession of the book! I also signed up for their mailing list to be notified next time the author does a foraging walk. This is so exciting! I LOVE foraging. I don't do as much of it as I could. I do get blackberries and mulberries often enough, and I know I could easily get stuff like dandelion greens and Japanese honeysuckle and violets. This book will help me expand my foraging horizons!
