I just ordered four "grab bag" bras from an online store called Breakout Bras. Basically, you tell them your size, and you can choose one, two, three, or four mystery bras to buy. One bra is $20, but four are $50. I figure, with four, there's a better chance of at least one of them fitting and looking really good, and honestly, most bras I buy are in the $50 each range or more. Also, shipping is free with these. You can put in a comment if you really like a certain brand or something. Though they don't guarantee to be able to fulfill your wish, other people who have ordered the grab bags have said that they often do. I just said I would prefer that all the bras be underwire and I don't want any bras from the Goddess brand. They just aren't usually anything I like. I almost said I'd prefer all UK brands if possible, but if I find an American brand and style that fits, it might be cheaper to buy in the future.

It will be interesting to see what I get! I figured this would be a cheap way of increasing my bra collection. I just need more to avoid wearing my existing bras out too fast.

Oh, and unrelated except for the fact that it's a bit of a gamble on something new: I ordered an epilator. A Braun Silk-Épil Xelle, to be specific. It gets excellent reviews. Ladies on Bhuz convinced me that there might be something to those. See, I don't mind the pain of waxing either at home or at a salon so much, but salons require me to make and keep appointments (bleah) and are expensive, and at home, it's messy as hell and not as effective. Shaving doesn't last as long as I'd like. Shipping was free on this, too!

Please update us on all of these when you get them. I have been thinking about an epilator, but I'd rather hear something about it from someone I know and whose opinion I respect.

No problem! Everything I've heard has been along the lines of:

* they really hurt a lot the first time, but that decreases with the next few uses

* the Braun Silk-Épil line is really good in general

* they may make you prone to ingrown hairs (just like waxing, in my experience) unless you exfoliate, though this varies from person to person

* you can even do a Brazilian with them, but yes, that hurts like a bastard, especially the first time.

* your legs will stay smooth up to three weeks

Have you been professionally fitted? Because in my experience, a lot of people wear bands that are too big for them and think it's the right size. I did, for ages.

I was fitted in the spring and depending on the bra I’m a 46 or 48 FF or G. It is decidely un fun to try and find any bras let alone pretty ones.

I'll be damned. I thought they had those sizes, but I guess not. Figleaves.com does, at least. I love them so much.

where does one go to get professionally fitted?
I've seen the Oprah show about proper fitting a couple of times - but have no idea where to get it done professionally (that being the key word - I went into a Charlette's store, that claimed to be professional fitters - and all she did was measure my ribcage... and all the bras she chose fitted worse than the Walmart bra that I had one)

If there's one near you, I'd recommend going to Intimacy (http://www.myintimacy.com). If there isn't, go to Nordstrom's. Both are known for good fitting. If you go anywhere where they try to put you in a bra whose band size is 4" bigger than your actual underbust measurement, you need to back away slowly. This a common stupidity. Your band should fit snugly, for maximum support and to keep the weight off your shoulders. I had been wearing a 36DD, but was professionally fit in a 32F, and it is so much better. Most women wear bras that are too big in the band and too small in the cup!
